From the Middle East to USA to Community Champion | Sara Hindi, Refugee & Community Ambassador

Sara Hindi moved from the Middle East to the US ... twice. Upon her permanent return at 16-years-old, she battled Islamophobia and figuring out who she was as her authentic self. Through facing fear, she started to worry less about how others perceived her and focused more about how she perceived herself.

Sara is an award winning community champion who serves as the Community Engagement Coordinator at Exodus Refugee Immigration, a local nonprofit dedicated to the protection of human rights by serving the resettlement needs of refugees and other displaced people fleeing persecution, injustice, and war by welcoming them to Indiana.

On this episode we answer questions including...

  • What is it like to move from the Middle East to the United States?

  • How can we become more culturally intelligent?

  • What is the intersection of feminism and being Muslim?

  • What can I do to engage with my community?
