WHY IS ASKING FOR HELP SO DAMN HARD
I am Miss (well, Mrs. now) I-N-D-E-P-E-N-D-E-N-T.
I bought my first car sophomore year of college after working four jobs in one semester. Fun fact: One of these jobs included the weekend night shift at Jimmy Johns... trust me people, all the free bread in the world isn't worth taking orders from sloppy, drunk frat boys at 2 AM.
My parents taught me that if I wanted something, it was up to me to figure it out (with help from them as cheerleaders on whatever goal I was pursuing). However, I've noticed as we move towards independence, we move further away from asking for help. Why is that? And at what point does asking for help become so difficult?
Maybe it's when you finally "get older." Or when you live on your own, make your own money and have your own goals. You're supposed to know it all. Especially if you're an aspiring entrepreneur like me, you're supposed to "bootstrap" everything.
I started the podcast almost a year ago. I redesigned my website, created a logo and pulled together what I thought was a "brand." It was good, but oh, so very far away from great. I knew deep down Facing Fear could be and look GREAT.
I held myself back for months because I was A). too scared to admit I needed help and B). unsure whether I should financially invest in something currently making me zero dollars. Upon hiring Mariah of Made Solo, I quickly learned facing your fear and admitting you need help is a massive RELIEF.
You do not have to be the expert in everything. There are people out there who are experts AND passionate about their skills who want to help! And yes, it may cost you. Sometimes you HAVE to bet on yourself. It's thanks to my partnership with Mariah, I'm finally betting on myself. I am incredibly proud of the look, feel, mission and heart behind this brand. And now you can wear and share Facing Fear with the world because the MERCHANDISE SHOP IS OPEN!
